Pagination
Report X implements a two-level pagination system in both Table View and Card View to optimize performance and improve the user experience, especially when handling large volumes of work items.
This approach ensures that data is loaded in smaller, manageable batches instead of rendering the entire dataset at once.
Pagination Types
Top-Level Pagination
Controls how many top-level work items are displayed at once.
Implemented separately for Table View and Card View.
Located below the main work item list.
Batch Sizes:
View Type | Batch Size (Top-Level Items) |
|---|---|
Table View | 20 work items per page |
Card View | 5 work items per page |
Hierarchy-Level Pagination
Each work item can have multiple hierarchy levels (e.g., Linked work items, child work items, subtasks).
Pagination is applied individually at each hierarchy level.
This ensures that only a limited number of items are displayed for each work item at a time.
A "Show More" button loads the next set of items for that level.
Batch Sizes:
View Type | Batch Size (Per Hierarchy Level) |
|---|---|
Table View | 10 work items per level |
Card View | 5 work items per level |
Example
Table View Example:
Top Level: First 20 work items are shown → navigate to next page for more.
Hierarchy Level: For any work item, the first 10 sub-items are shown → click "Show More" to load the next 10.
Card View Example:
Top Level: First 5 work items are shown → navigate to next page for more.
Hierarchy Level: For any work item, the first 5 sub-items are shown → click "Show More" to load the next 5.
