The Signing Invitation

The Signing Invitation

When a Sender creates a contract and adds you as a signer, E-SignSeal sends you an invitation through two channels: a Jira notification inside your Jira workspace and an email to your Jira-registered address. This page explains what the invitation contains and how to start your signing session.

What you receive

Jira notification

A notification appears in the Jira notification bell (the bell icon in the Jira top navigation bar). The notification reads:

You have been invited to sign: [Contract title] [Sender name] has sent you a contract for your signature. Select to open your signing session.

Selecting the notification opens the signing session directly in your browser.

Email notification

An email is sent to the address associated with your Jira account. The subject line follows the format:

Action required: Sign "[Contract title]"

The email body identifies the Sender, the contract title, and the linked Jira issue. It contains a Sign now button that links directly to your signing session.

The signing link in the email is unique to you and is not transferable to another user. Each signer's link opens their own personal signing session.

Invitation contents

Both the notification and email include:

  • Contract title — the name the Sender gave to this contract

  • Sender name — who created and sent the contract

  • Linked Jira issue — the issue key and summary this contract relates to

  • Expiry date — the deadline by which you must complete signing

What happens if you do not sign by the expiry date

If the contract expires before you sign, your signing link is deactivated. You will receive an expiry notification. To sign, you would need to ask the Sender to create a new contract.

Reminder notifications

If you have not signed and the Sender has reminders enabled, you will receive an additional Jira notification and email every 24 hours until you sign or the contract expires. The Sender can also send you a one-off manual reminder at any time.

Starting your signing session

Select the notification or the Sign now button in the email to open your signing session. The session opens in a new browser tab inside your Jira workspace. You do not need to install anything or create a separate account.

Your signing session proceeds through five stages:

  1. Review — read the contract document

  2. OTP — verify your identity with a one-time passcode

  3. Consent — scroll to the end and accept the legal consent checkbox

  4. Capture — draw or type your signature

  5. Confirmation — your signed submission is confirmed
